Area Agency on Aging Public Hearing Fiscal Year 2017

The CMPDD Area Agency on Aging (AAA) in conjunction with the Mississippi Department of Human Services/Division on Aging and Adult Services held its annual public hearing on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 Area Plan for Aging Services on July 18, 2017 at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. Over 170 senior adults and representatives from partnering organizations attended this annual meeting. Dr. Chelsea Crittle, Director of Aging Programs presented a comprehensive overview of the AAA’s accomplishments from October 1, 2016 through March 30, 2017. Additionally, she provided information of the Agency’s FY 2018 goals and expected funding limits by the Mississippi Department of Human Services. She continued the presentation by explaining the purpose of the Area Plan and the required mandates, and concluded by advising the audience that the FY 2018 Area Plan would be available for review beginning September 1, 2017. Anyone interested in reviewing the plan could contact the District office.

Mrs. Sandra McClendon, the Director of Aging and Adult Services, with the Mississippi Department of Human Services presented the FY 2018 State Plan Initiatives at this public hearing as well. Mrs. McClendon stated that she has two goals for the State of Mississippi. The first goal is to keep all senior citizens safe and the second is to provide all senior citizens and vulnerable persons 18 years and older with the services they need in order to live in their homes without being admitted into a care facility.
